Four months after “opting out” of the federal pharmacare plan, Smith announces Alberta to also ditch dental.
Over 100,000 Alberta seniors had already signed up for the federal plan. Currently in Alberta only seniors making under $32,000 a year in income are eligible for only $5000 over a five year period.
The Alberta Adult Health Benefit program covers low-income non-senior Albertans if they make less than $16,580/year.
The program direct-bills the federal plan, so despite the announcement there’s currently nothing to stop Albertans from using it.
